Exhibition about Samuel Willenberg's life and work

On 6 October 2022, a unique exhibition dedicated to Samuel Willenberg was presented at the Polish Seym. The inauguration of the exhibition was attended by representatives of the IPN's Office of International Relations, the Director Agnieszka Jędrzak and Joanna Kumor.

The exhibition was made in connection with the following anniversaries in 2023: the 100th anniversary of the birth of Samuel Willenberg — 16 February, the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising — April 19 and the 80th anniversary of the armed rebellion in Treblinka — 2 August.

At the exhibition one can learn about Samuel Willenberg as an extraordinary man who shows what it means to be brave, honest and fearless. He lived according to highest values by being an exceptional artist and father of a family.

The opening was honored by the Ambassador of Israel to the Republic of Poland Mr. Yacov Livne and Willenberg's widow, Mrs. Ada-Krystyna Willenberg, who contributed to the IPN project, built around her late husband’s art. Samuel Willenberg’s is the author of 15 bronze sculptures depicting life in the German death camp in Treblinka. The exhibition of  his sculptures "The Image of Treblinka in the Eyes of Samuel Willenberg" is a project of the Institute of National Remembrance, started by the IPN Office of International Cooperation. The "Image of Treblinka" has toured a number of Polish cities. International tour of the exhibition is planned in 2023. In the future, in accordance with the artist's last will, Willenberg’s sculptures will become part of the permanent exhibition at the Museum in Treblinka.
