The man this facility was named after and this plaque dedicated to, father of Polish independence Marshal Józef Piłsudski  (…) read history to project and plan the future of the Republic (…) He said that all military units, including border formations, must have this bond to their symbols and emblems, or they won’t be able to serve – and the spirit of service, your service, is not guarding your own safety but guarding the life and safety of the citizens of the Republic,

said Karol Nawrocki during the unveiling ceremony.

The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda also participated in the Border Guard Day celebrations. The President, who was accompanied by the First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, thanked border guards for helping manage the influx of refugees from war-torn Ukraine.

You have extended a helping hand to their children, to their wives, to their mothers, to everyone who is crossing into our country,

said Andrzej Duda.
