The Institute of National Remembrance would like to warmly invite you to watch "The Katyn Massacre – New Aspects" international scientific conference. The event was moderated by Sławomir Kalbarczyk, Ph.D.,D. Sc. representing the IPN’s Historical Research Office and Witold Wasilewski, Ph.D.,D. Sc from the IPN Archive.

The conference was attended by scholars from Poland, Russia and Ukraine who are currently conducting research on various aspects of the Katyn Massacre.Although the Katyn Massacre and its repercussions have been well researched by scholars, the significance and complexity of the topic still make this crime an issue of great interest among researchers.

The conference was a perfect opportunity for historians to present the results of their latest work. The speakers discussed the course of the 1940 crime, its victims and perpetrators, as well as the phenomenon of the Katyn lie, which has been the subject of an important part of their research.

Spreading lies about the Katyn Massacre, also today, is only one of the reasons why knowledge of the Soviet crime should constantly be broadened and the latest findings ought to be widely presented. As a summary of the event, a publication edited by S. Kalbarczyk and W. Wasilewski on the topic will be released by the IPN.

The conference took place on 17 September 2021 at the IPN’s Janusz Kurtyka Educational Center in Warsaw.
