On 8 September 2021 a meeting of the finalists of the third and fourth edition of the "Łączka (Lot Ł) and other Search Sites” educational project implemented by the IPN’s Office of Search and Identification and the Institute’s “History Point” Educational Center took place at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The project is held under the National Patronage of the President of Poland Andrzej Duda.

The project is a remarkable and unique history lesson. During monthly workshops, the participants learn about the methods used in the search for burial sites of victims of totalitarian regimes and are assigned various tasks to complete. As a summary, they were asked to shoot 2-minute film etudes devoted to the IPN’s excavation work, which are to be presented during today’s event.

The project is implemented by the IPN’s branch offices in Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Katowice, Łódź, Rzeszów, Szczecin and Warsaw.

The goals of the project include developing interest in contemporary Polish history, reinforcing empathy towards victims and respect for human life, inspiring research curiosity, and organizing meetings with historians, archivists, geneticists and archaeologists .

"Your dedication, admirable and moving, shows the same commitment to preserving the memory of Polish heroes that we feel," said the IPN’s Deputy President Krzysztof Szwagrzyk to the teachers and students who participated in the project.

"Through your participation in the project you became part of the IPN’s mission – restoring the memory of the heroes who were to remain forgotten forever,” said the Institute’s President Karol Nawrocki in his address to the teachers and students gathered at the Royal Castle.
