Preserving the historical heritage of the Eastern Borderlands is one of the main directions of work on restoring the national memory. The Institute of National Remembrance has prepared many publications and exhibitions on the subject. It also conducts educational activities, among others, as part of fits History Points” abroad in Vilnius, Grodno, Żytomierz, Dyneburg and Lviv. Since 2019, the Institute has been honoring individuals, institutions and social organizations for particularly active participation in commemorating the heritage of the Polish Eastern Borderlands in the Republic of Poland and abroad by awarding the "Semper Fidelis" award.

The President of the Institute of National Remembrance will also meet the families of the Borderlands in the market square of Skwierzyna, where two exhibitions of the Institute will be presented:

"The World Lost in Katyń" (IPN’s Szczecin Branch) presenting materials obtained from families who inhabited Szczecin and Western Pomerania after World War II. They depict the lives of the prisoners of Starobilsk, Ostashkov and Kozelsk before September 1939 in the perspective of their professions.

"Exiles - Siberians - Deported" (IPN’s Rzeszów Branch), which contains information about Poles deported deep into Russia in the years 1768–1956. A dozen or so boards show photographs, documents and souvenirs from exile. A separate board is devoted to the activities of the Siberian Association and its efforts to preserve the memory of the "Golgotha of the East".

The participants of the ceremony will be able to see the IPN’s spot on the Victims of the Volhynian Crime Database and the performance of the Nie Teraz Theater entitled "A Ballad about Volhynia". It is the first theatre performance in Poland that tells the story of the genocide of the Polish population of the Eastern Borderlands at the hands of Ukrainian nationalists during World War II.
