President of IPN in Bucharest, 11-12 December 2013

Presentation of the new IPN international publication "Polish refugees in Romania, 1939-1947" was the main objective of Dr. Łukasz Kaminski, the President of the Institute of National Remembrance, visit to Bucharest. The publication, resulting from cooperation between IPN archives and National Archives of Romania, contains documents regarding citizens of the Second Polish Republic, who entered the Romanian territory as a result of the German and Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939.

During Mr. Kamiński's visit to Bucharest a working meeting with the National Archives of Romania was held, during which next joint projects have been discussed. President of the IPN also met with Dr. Andrei Muraru, head of Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile and Dr. Dragos Petrescu, chairman of the The National Council for the Study of the Securitate Archives. At a meeting with Marek Szczygieł, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Romania, Dr. Kaminski talked about the involvement of the IPN in anniversary celebrations next year.

On the last day of the visit the President of IPN, together with the Ambassador laid flowers at the Memorial to Victims of the 1989 Revolution.
