IPN at the international symposium “European Remembrance” in Berlin - 10-12 October 2013

Representatives of 120 institutions from 23 European countries and non-governmental organizations dealing with the history of the twentieth century met at the symposium "European Remembrance". Its main theme was international cooperation for cultivating historical remembrance of the twentieth century. The meeting was opened by a lecture by Prof. Andrzej Paczkowski, a member of the IPN Council, who talked about the complexity and ambiguity of the historical remembrance of individual European countries, wondering whether collective European remembrance of on World War II is at all possible .

During the symposium IPN presented its international publications. As usual, "Kolejka" (Queue), IPN board game about hardships of daily life in the declining years of communism in Poland, attracted avid interest of the audience. After the symposium publications of the Institute have been given to libraries in Czech Republic, Slovenia and Estonia.

The event was organised by European Network Remembrance and Solidarity, the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship, and the European Solidarity Centre.
