In connection with this year's 70th anniversary of the genocide in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia on 27-28 June 2013 the Institute of National Remembrance organised an international conference entitled "Volhynia Massacre - history, remembrance and education. On the eve of the 70th anniversary".

The conference was held under the auspices of the Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski www.prezydent.pl The conference revived the tragic events from 70 years ago, and honor the memory of the victims. The program included four sessions, in which representatives of the Polish and Ukrainian side take part. The sessions were as following: "On remembrance" (with the participation of representatives of the Polish and Ukrainian state authorities, representatives of churches and institutions who pursue to preserve the memory of historical events), "Let's talk about the facts" (with the participation of Polish and Ukrainian historians), and "How to popularise", showing the differences in the historical education of the younger generation in Poland and Ukraine. During the last session the educational material published by IPN was presented entitled "Who did not see this, will never believe it... Volhynia Massacre - history and remembrance".

On Thursday (27 June) the conference was held at the Presidential Palace with admission by invitation only. On Friday (28 June) there was the open part of the conference, which was devoted to education. This part took place at the IPN Educational Center (21/25 Marszałkowska Street).
