Visit of the President of the Institute of National Remembrance to Paris

From 10 to 12 June 2013, the President of the Institute of National Remembrance Dr. Lukasz Kaminski visited the Polish Library in Paris. Pursuant to an agreement signed in May 2011, the IPN is conducting research in the resources of the Library, which involves processing and digitizing archival documents. During the visit Dr. Kaminski talked with Pierre Zaleski, President of the institution about further stages of cooperation.

During the visit to Paris Dr. Kaminski also met with Victor Convert, Director General of Fondation de la Résistance and Bruno Leroux, Director of Historical Department. The meeting concerned possible cooperation in the field of research into the resistance movement in Europe. The Foundation, operating under the auspices of the President of the French Republic, carries out historical research on the resistance movement in France and other countries occupied by the Nazis. It also focuses on preserving memory of members of the resistance.

The President of IPN also met with Wojciech Sikora at the Literary Institute “Kultura”. Archives of the Literary Institute, listed on the Memory of the World Register, contain a unique collection of documents related to the activities of the Institute such as Jerzy Giedroyc correspondence, collections of “Kultura” and “Zeszyty Historyczne” magazines and historical documents. During the meeting fields of future cooperation have been discussed.

One of the main goals of the IPN President's visit was also a meeting with the Polish ambassador in Paris Tomasz Orlowski.
