Jan Karski in Russian!

The book "Secret State. The story of Polish Underground" by Jan Karski was published in Russia by CORPUS Publishing House. The promotion of the book took place on 1 December 2012 in Moscow in the annual Non-Fiction book fair.

In "Secret State" Karski gave the world for the first time the image of a unique phenomenon of the Polish Underground State. His work was published in November 1944 in 400 thousand copies, first in the U.S., and then also in England, France, Sweden and Norway.

Releasing the prepared publications in Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, Hebrew, and Arabic was not carried out as a result of the campaign launched by the Soviet propaganda machine to discredit the author. Similarly, in Poland, the work of Karski started to be published only after the year 1989.

The Corpus Publishing House (www.corpus.ru) issues translations of world literature, biographies, memoirs, historical works and popular science books.

It is thanks to the efforts of Varvara Gornostaeva, director of the publishing house, Jan Karski's book, and the different from the Soviet vision of the World War II history, will reach the Russian reader.
