Representatives of the Institute of National Remembrance in the Memorial Museum of the 1989 Revolution in Timisoara (Romania) - March 23, 2010

On March 23, 2010 the delegation of the Institute of National Remembrance visited Timisoara (Romania) following the invitation of Asociaţia Memorialul Revoluţiei 16–22 Decembrie 1989 Timişoara. The IPN’s delegation consisted of: dr. Franciszek Gryciuk, Vice President of the Institute of National Remembrance, dr. Zbigniew Nawrocki, Director of the Office for Preservation and Dissemination of Archival Records, dr. Rafał Reczek, Director of the IPN Branch in Poznań, Jerzy Bednarek (Office for Preservation and Dissemination of Archival Records), Jan Kołodziejski (Branch Office for Preservation and Dissemination of Archival Records in Poznań) and dr. Konrad Białecki (Public Education Branch Office in Poznań).

During the visit, the IPN’s delegation donated the exhibition entitled "Solidarity with Romania" to Asociaţia Memorialul Revoluţiei 16–22 Decembrie 1989 Timişoara. The exhibition was prepared by IPN Branch Office in Poznań. It was already presented in several Romanian cities (Bucharest, Cluj, Sighietu Marmaţiei) last year. Now, owing to the signed bilateral agreement – "Solidarity with Romania" became a part of the permanent exhibition of the Memorial Museum of the 1989 Revolution in Timisoara.

Jan Kołodziejski the author of the photos, also gave the Museum license to his photos with ability of their usage in various fields of operation.
During the ceremony the following persons delivered speeches: Traian Orban, President of Asociaţia Memorialul Revoluţiei 16–22 Decembrie 1989 Timişoara, dr. Franciszek Gryciuk, Vice President of the Institute of National Remembrance, dr. Konrad Białecki, the coauthor of the exhibition and Jan Kołodziejski, the author of exhibition’s photos. The Institute of National Remembrance and Jan Kołodziejski were awarded with the commemorative medals.

Polish guests had the opportunity to see collections of local museums and places associated with the tragic events of December 1989. During the entire stay, the Polish delegation was accompanied by Jarosław Godun, Director of the Polish Institute in Bucharest, who was representing the Polish Ambassador in Bucharest. The delegation also met with Gheorghe Ciuhandu, Mayor of Timisoara.
