On January 11-12, 2010 the President of the Institute of National Remembrance visited the European Parliament in Brussels, where he met with the EP members, representatives of Polish diplomacy and with the President of the European Parliament – Jerzy Buzek.

President Janusz Kurtyka met with the following MEP’s: Paweł Kowal (European Conservatives and Reformists), Paweł Zalewski (Group of the European People's Party) and Bogusław Sonik (Group of the European People's Party) in order to gain support for the endeavors planned by the Institute of National Remembrance, which would be directed at the European audience. The initiatives are focused on promoting the history of “Holodomor” (or “the Great Hunger” in Ukraine) as well as the fate of Polish and Czech fighter pilots, who took part in the Battle of Britain. Next, dr Kurtyka had met with the President of the European Parliament – Jerzy Buzek, whose support will prove a key factor in realization of the Institute’s undertakings.

Another part of the President’s visit were the meetings with Polish Ambassadors in Brussels – His Excellency Ambassador to the European Union Jan Tombiński and His Excellency Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium Sławomir Czarlewski. Both gentlemen declared their involvement in the fulfillment of IPN’s proposals.
