History is all about great events that have an impact on nations and societies, but also the fate of every family and every individual. Our lives are documented by objects, photos and writings hidden in drawers, basements and attics. We are interested in official documents, photographs and memoirs as well as in private letters, diaries, films, and audio-video recordings presenting the fate of the Polish nation in the years 1917—1990. We share the knowledge that we have gathered and preserved with journalists and researchers, but above all with young people.
It’s time for a change after running the Archive Full of Remembrance project for five years. We are crossing new borders in search of historical sources. To reach the widest possible audience we are developing, and taking advantage of modern communication channels. The new opening of the project will offer:
- expansion of foreign cooperation
- more national partnerships
- podcasts
- the possibility of supplying documents for archival review from any electronic device
We would like to remind you that the aim of the project is to reach out to individuals, associations and Polish organizations, as well as foreign archives in order to acquire and secure materials depicting the history of Poland and Poles in the 20th century. The next step will be to disseminate knowledge about the newly discovered fate of Polish citizens via books, press and Internet publications, as well as at exhibitions and meetings.
The event will be accompanied by a discussion about the publication „Aby każdy okruch historii został uratowany!”, ["Let us save every scrap of history!"], with the participation of the following guests: Prof. Andrzej Nowak, Teresa Gallewicz-Dołowa (Institute of National Remembrance, coordinator of the project), Adam Hlebowicz, Director of the National Education Office, Krystyna Lenkowska, Edward Müller.
