The purpose of archaeological excavations carried out between 10 September and 01 October 2021 near Kędzierzyn-Koźle was to find the remains of the crew of the American B-24 bomber (Liberator) fallen in December 1944. The works were commissioned by the American Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) in cooperation with the Institute of National Remembrance.
