Days of the Rising – Warsaw 1944

The exhibition was prepared by the Branch Office of the Public Education Office in Warsaw and in Gdansk together with the Museum of Warsaw Rising.
The opening ceremony took place on November 29, 2004 in Gdansk Shipyard within the frames of the 60th anniversary of Warsaw Rising. The exhibition refers to the characteristic notions and symbols of the Rising. Particular exhibition boards depict the heroic struggle and common effort of the Warsaw citizens – proving the meaningfulness of the solidarity, heroism and dedication.
Home Army from other regions of Poland attempted to provide help to Warsaw insurgents, and the insurgents hoped to be assisted by the Allied forces. The hope proved to be groundless and the effort of Berling’s soldiers futile. The “ally of our allies” betrayed Poles and simply waited for the death of Warsaw. The exhibition covers all the issues mentioned above. Big size panels and space and light effects were used to present the tragedy of Home Army soldiers and Warsaw citizens. Moreover, the authors included Polish and German documentaries, what brings back the spirit of the dramatic months of Warsaw Rising
