Lecture of Dr. Łukasz Kamiński, the President of the IPN, during the 5th European Workshop on coming to terms with the history of Auschwitz - Oświęcim, 11 August 2014.

The workshop, which took place from 11 to 16 August 2014, has been organized by the Maximilian Kolbe Foundation at the headquarters of The Krakow Foundation for the Centre for Dialogue and Prayer.

Each year more than  40 representatives of institutions and organizations from all over Europe take part in the workshop, discussing the history of Auschwitz and the ways of dealing with the painful past. During the discussion the participants exchange experiences on how to worship the memory of the Holocaust in different countries. The organizers emphasize the role of the Church in commemoration of the victims, reconciliation and expressing solidarity with the victims.

On 11 August, Dr. Łukasz Kamiński, President of the Institute of National Remembrance gave a lecture about how to deal with a past marked by violence and the challenges related with it.
