The 8th "Wolf's Trail Run" to run Down Under

On Saturday 24 October, Penrose Park in Australia will see the 8th "Wolf’s Trail Run”, organized with the support of the Institute of National Remmbrance and enjoying its President’s honorary patronage.

The event, whose name comes from Zbigniew Herbert’s famous "Wolves”, a poem dedicated to the soldiers of anti-communist underground in post-WWII Poland, commemorates all patriots who did not yield to brutal power of the Soviet state or Polish communists introducing the reign of terror and enslaving the nation. First held in 2013, the run has grown to become the largest commemorative initiative of this kind in Poland, and one that goes way beyond the country’s borders: so far it has happened in places like Vilnius, Vienna, London, Chicago, New York or Melbourne, to name but a few.

The Institute’s President Jarosław Szarek, Polish Ambassador to Canberra Michał Kołodziejski, and President of the Federation of Polish Organizations in New South Wales Adam Gajkowski took joint patronage over the event, supporting the Freedom and Democracy Foundation and the Nasza Polonia Association in making the initiative happen on the Austrialian soil. The pool of participants, on Saturday limited to 40 people for safety reasons, will, hopefully, grow between 24 and 31 October, when everyone is invited to cover the 1,963-metre distance individually at their place of residence.
