Representatives of Ukrainian archives visit the IPN - Warsaw, 24-25 February 2020

On 24-25 February, the Institute of National Remembrance hosted a delegation from Ukraine composed of: Anatoly Chromov – the President of the State Archive Service of Ukraine, Olga Bazan – the Director of the Central State Archive of Social Organizations of Ukraine and Vitaly Biłyj - the First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Warsaw.

During the meeting with Marzena Kruk, the Director of the IPN Archive, the participants discussed the prospects of further cooperation and exchange of archival materials between the Ukrainian archives and the IPN. The guests further visited departments dealing with the digitization and preservation of archival materials, they also learned about the activities of the department of Audiovisual Documentation Development.

 

 

 

On 25 February  the Ukrainian guests met with the President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Dr Jaroslaw Szarek. During the meeting, the details of future cooperation between the Institute of National Remembrance and the State Archives of Ukraine in the field of conducting joint archival research and educational projects were discussed.

Particular emphasis was  placed on the issue of obtaining documents regarding repression against Poles and people of Polish nationality in Ukraine. The organization of  joint Polish-Ukrainian archival workshops in both Poland and Ukraine, as well as queries in the archives of both countries were also a discussed.
