On September 23, 2008, by the invitation of the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes in Romania (Institutul de Investigare a Crimelor Comunismului în România – IICCR) in the premises of the Romanian Diplomatic Institute in Bucharest, a visit of the representatives of the Institute of National Remembrance, took place. During the meeting, the President of the IPN – dr. Janusz Kurtyka and the President of IICCR, dr. Marius Oprea, signed a mutual cooperation agreement between the two Institutes.
According to the agreement both sides concurred to:
- cooperation in the area of archives, scientific research and the edition of sources, which are in the possession of IPN and IICCR
- cooperation within the area of historical education:
- carrying out mutual scientific programs and popularization of its results
- organization of exhibitions, seminars and conferences
- organization of scientific visits, internships and training
- common editing of publications and historical documents
- other educational endeavors
The IPN’s delegation had also met with the authorities of the National Council for the Study of the Securitate Archives (Consiliul National pentru Studierea Arhivelor Securitatii – CNSAS).
