The conference will open with a lecture by Prof. Krzysztof Szwagrzyk, Deputy President of the Institute of National Remembrance. He is goinging to discuss works conducted by the Institute. A separate panel is devoted to material traces - documents from the Institute of National Remembrance and objects excavated from burial pits. The debate closing the conference serves to depict the problem in the context of a specific wound of families, for years condemned to ignorance about the burial place of their loved ones. Conference participants will also have the opportunity to visit the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the Polish People's Republic. The conference is organized by the IPN’s Office of Search and Identification.
“The aim of the conference is to show the problem in the context of a specific wound of families, for years condemned to ignorance about the burial place of loved ones. Among the speakers, we have people with enormous scientific achievements, participants in works known from history textbooks. The conference will also be an opportunity to exchange experiences," say the conference organizers: Ewa Kowalska and Kamila Sachnowska from the IPN's Office of Search and Identification.
