Karol Tendera, a prisoner of German concentration camps and a Witness to History, passed away at the age of 98.

Karol Tendera, a former prisoner of the German camps of KL Auschwitz and KL Flossenbürg (Leitmeritz) passed away at the age of 98 . Karol Tendera undertook various actions aimed at preserving  the memory of the victims of crimes committed by the Germans during World War II. He  cooperated with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Victims Memorial Foundation in Oświęcim, participated in many educational meetings, and continuously shared his experience of war, viewing it as a warning of the effects of Nazi ideology.

Karol Tendera won a court battle with the German ZDF television, which he sued for using the term “Polish death camp” in relation to Nazi-German camps in Majdanek and Auschwitz.

“Until the last moments of his life, he steadfastly fought for historical truth and won. A prisoner during the war, a hero of our times. RIP ” - President Andrzej Duda on social media.
