Dr. Andrii Deshchytsia, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, visited the IPN

On 1 October 2019, Dr. Jarosław Szarek, President of the Institute of National Remembrance, and Prof. Krzysztof Szwagrzyk, Deputy President of the Institute of National Remembrance, met with Dr. Andrii Deshchytsia, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland.

 The Ambassador handed the President of the Institute a letter from Volodymyr Borodiansky, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, of 24 September 2019 regarding exploratory and  archeological works, the exhumation and burial of war victims, as well as deportations and political repression in Ukraine.

The meeting was held in a positive atmosphere, and both sides expressed their will to constructively cooperate to honour the memory of Poles, victims of war and political repression. The meeting was also attended by Vasyl Zwarych, Minister-Counselor, and Vitalii Bilyi, First Secretary, Anna Szeląg, Deputy Director of the IPN’s Office of Search and Identification, and Agnieszka Jędrzak, Head of the IPN’s International Section.
