The international scientific conference on the repression used by the Third Reich and the Soviet Union against Polish citizens during World War II is taking place at the IPN’s Educational Center in Warsaw.
The 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II in September 2019 is another opportunity to try to broaden our knowledge of its outcome. Among the numerous consequences to be mentioned, undeniably, the repression of millions of people throughout the war was the most dramatic. The purpose of the international conference organized by the Institute of National Remembrance is to draw attention to the various repressive actions used by the Third Reich and the Soviet Union against Polish citizens during World War II. They were initiated and implemented not only by the political police of both totalitarian regimes, but also by other police and paramilitary formations, the army, the judiciary, political parties and civil administration.
