On 22 May 2019, Dr Mateusz Szpytma, Deputy President of the Institute of National Remembrance, met with representatives of the Committee on Security of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, led by Jana Černochova. The meeting was organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic
The members of the delegation had an opportunity to find out about the mission and undertakings of the Institute of National Remembrance, they discussed its statutory tasks, current research projects and the activities of the Institute of National Remembrance in the field of public education. Dr hab. Mirosław Szumiło from the IPN Historical Research Office also took part in the meeting. Later in the day, the delegation visited the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.
On 23 May, the representatives of the Czech Parliament visited the headquarters of the IPN Archive at Kłobucka 21 str. The parliamentarians were greeted by Mariusz Kwaśniak, Deputy Director of the IPN Archive. They were informed about the types of documentation stored in the resources of the Institute, the collection of audiovisual materials and the rules for accessing our archives. The employees of the Archive also showed our guests the specifics of the video comparator – one of the tools used during their work.
Next, the guests visited the Military Intelligence Warehouse where documents related to former military services of the Polish People's Republic are stored; a digitization workshop and the Conservation Department. They had the opportunity to learn the basic principles of storing, securing and preserving archival materials.
