Catering for the needs of the Polish community living abroad, the Institute of National Remembrance has created an educational package entitled "Dawniej to było, devoted to the history of the Republic of Poland.

"Whoever does not know or value their past, is not worthy of respect, the present or a right to a future" - the statement of Poland's Father of Independence, Marshal Józef Piłsudski became, in a sense, the basis for creating an educational package devoted to the history of the Republic of Poland, tailored for the Polish community living outside its borders.

The educational package is a source of knowledge which will serve as a means of supporting the process of teaching and popularizing Polish history around the world, its target recipients being mainly students of Polish schools outside Poland.

Polish cultural heritage constitutes the core of the compendium's narrative, the story is told through the prism of Poland's civilization and cultural development, portraying its influence on the fate of Europe and the world.

The educational package consists of :

  • a textbook for teachers -"Guide to the history of Poland" by Prof. Włodzimierz Suleja published by the Institute of National Remembrance

  • a textbook for children "Mini guide to the history of Poland" by Łukasz Malinowski

  • a teaching manual

  • a set of additional multimedia materials for conducting lessons

The package was created in cooperation with the Senate of the Republic of Poland, the Institute of National Remembrance and the "Wspólnota Polska" Association.

Dom Polonii in Warsaw (Krakowskie Przedmieście 64 Street) will host the presentation of the "Dawniej to było" educational package on 19 March at 09:30.

The conference will be attended by:

- the Speaker of the Polish Senate Stanisław Karczewski;

- the President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Dr Jarosław Szarek;

- President of the "Wspólnota Polska" Association, Dariusz Piotr Bonisławski.
