From 21 August 2018 specialists from the IPN’s Office of Search and Identification conduct the next stage of search and exhumation work in Lithuania. Until now, the search had been completed in the forest complex in Vilnius, where in five burial pits remains of 15 people were found, together with their belongings and pieces of clothing. Most likely, these are the remains of the “Ostra Brama” operation participants.

The work of the “Kresy” Department is supported by volunteers from the “Odra-Niemen” Association and Lithuanian specialists. The search and exhumation of the graves of Poles in other places in Lithuania are being continued. The end of the current stage is planned for mid-September, after completing work in individual locations.
