On 27 April 2021, a public hearing of the candidates for the post of the President of the Institute took place. After listening to the candidates, asking them questions and after long deliberations of the IPN’s Council, Karol Nawrocki, Ph.D. the current Director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk was designated.

The Chairman of the Council, Wojciech Polak, Ph.D., D.Sc. presented the Speaker of the Seym of the Republic of Poland Elżbieta Witek with a document on recommending Karol Nawrocki, Ph.D. for the post of the President of the IPN.
