The publication (the Italian language version of the book published by the IPN Katowice in 2015) has a unique character. It contains a procedural document in the form of the decision to discontinue the investigation by the prosecutor, and a historical article which is an in-depth historical analysis. Such a bipartite arrangement of the book (documentation and analytical) is not a common publishing practice. The book is an attempt to present the backstage, preparations, course and consequences of the attack on John Paul II of May 13, 1981.
