The Polish Institute in Budapest and the Institute of National Remembrance are organizing the official presentation of the publication “Cities of Freedom. Poznań – Budapest 1956” - „A szabadság városai. Poznań és Budapest, 1956” on 22 February 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at the Hungarian National Museum in Budapest.
The event is taking place under the honorary patronage of Prof. Jerzy Snopek, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Hungary. The gathered guests will be welcomed by László L. Simon, the Director of the Hungarian National Museum, Joanna Urbańska, the Director of the Polish Institute in Budapest and Karol Nawrocki, Ph.D., the President of the Institute of National Remembrance.
The publication is going to be presented by its authors:
Rałaf Reczek, Ph.D. D.Sc., the Director of the Poznań Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance, Árona Máthé, Ph.D. Hungarian Committee of National Remembrance (NEB), Stanisław Jankowiak and Rafał Kościański.
"Polish-Hungarian relations are a phenomenon born in shared history and both nations’ desire to be free," said the IPN President Karol Nawrocki, "Poles, just like Hungarians, are a nation that is ready to suffer, fight and die for freedom and independence . . . These ideas directly refer to the year 1956. Long live Polish-Hungarian friendship!"
Earlier today, the IPN delegation headed by President Karol Nawrocki met with the President of the Hungarian Committee of National Remembrance (NEB) Réka Földváryné Kiss to discuss further future cooperation in the fields of research, education, archival exchanges, commemorations and joint international projects.
