Representatives of the IPN: Bogusław Czerwiński, prosecutor of the Chief Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation, and Agnieszka Jędrzak, Head of the Division of International Relations, participated in the international conference "Resisting Violence and Advocating Right to Justice, Truth and Remembrance", organized by the Documenta Center for Dealing with the Past in Zagreb. Boguslaw Czerwiński took part in the panel "Right to Justice: Prosecution of Violations of Humanitarian Law". During the panel he presented multidirectional activities of the Institute's divisions, the legal basis for the prosecution of German and communist crimes in Poland and the definitions of chosen crimes as defined in the Act on the IPN. He gave examples of investigations conducted by the prosecutorial division of the IPN, including the investigation concerning the Katyn Crime, KL Auswchitz, as well as persons detained during the martial law.
The panel was moderated by Vesna Teršelič from the Documenta Center for Dealing with the Past and was also attended by Public Prosecutor Jens Rommel of Die Zentrale Stelle der Landesjustizverwaltungen zur Aufklärung nationalsozialistischer Verbrechen in Ludwigsburg and Martien Schotsmans from the Belgian RCN Justice & Démocratie.
