The main objective of the project carried out in the years 2021‒2022 is to present a complete list of interned persons based on the Decree of the State Council of the People's Republic of Poland on Martial Law. The database will contain not only entries about persons detained for political reasons, but also information about those interned for other reasons, e.g. party dignitaries of the Polish United Workers' Party. Basic personal data, information about the place, dates and reason for internment as well as links to external biographies will also be included.

The records will be supplemented with digital files with copies of the decisions on internment (as long as they have been preserved in the archival resources of the Institute of National Remembrance), and in the case of persons interned for political reasons, also photographs.

The project is still in progress, and the works are to be continued until 13 December 2022. All Internet users will also be able to participate in the expansion of the Base by sending their comments and proposals to supplement the list to the address:  internowani@ipn.gov.pl

An interactive Map of internment sites (with descriptions and links to the base) and Statistics of the Ministry of the Interior of the Polish People's Republic on ithe nternees (with graphics) will also be available.
