Visit of representatives of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance – 27 January 2016

A group of representatives of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance visited Warsaw and Katowice at the invitation of Polish Institute of National Remembrance. So far, the Polish Institute of National Remembrance has usually hosted Ukrainian archivists. This time the group consisted of people interested in historical politics and educational activities.


On Wednesday, 27 January the group visited Silesia, where, in addition to meetings at the Branch of the IPN in Katowice, it had the opportunity to visit the Silesian Centre for Freedom and Solidarity in Katowice and Deportation Centre of Upper Silesians to the USSR in 1945 in Radzionków. The day before they participated in a meeting with Prof. Krzysztof Szwagrzyk and made a visit to the Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw. Earlier they met with President of the Institute of National Remembrance Dr. Łukasz Kamiński and representatives of the Public Education Office.


The program of the visit also included visiting the Rakowiecka Street Prison in Warsaw with the IPN historians, presentation of the project „Traces of Crimes” and visits to the Warsaw Uprising Museum and Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
