On 22 April 2013, in the IPN Educational Center began a two-day international scientific conference "Being witness to the Holocaust.70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising". The honorary patronage of the coference, dedicated to the memory of Szmul Zygielbojm, was held by Bronislaw Komorowski, the President of Poland. The conference has been organized by the Institute of National Remembrance - Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation, together with the Center for Holocaust Research of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute.
On the first day of the conference participants focused on discussing three topics: “Helplessness, indifference and silence of the witnesses”, "Churches towards the Holocaust" and "European resistance movements towards the Holocaust". During Tuesday's meeting two sessions were held: " European societies towards the Holocaust " and "Jews - the witnesses of the Holocaust". Conference will conclude with a panel discussion entitled What is left of the Hilberg triad „Perpetrators – victims – witnesses“?
