Opening of the exposition Saved from the inhuman land. The fate of Polish refugees from USSR in years 1942-1950



Chicago, April 22, 2006.

On April 22, 2006 in Chicago the exposition ωSaved from the >>inhuman land<<ω, prepared by the ω󤟠branch of the Institute of National Remembrance, was opened.
Several hundreds of people took part in the event, including combatants of the Polish Armed Forces in the West and the Home Army, members of the Association of the Sibir Prisoners in the USA and the Santa Rosa Club. There was also present a studentsω group from the Polish Club at the Loyola University in Chicago.
During the opening ceremony several officials gave speeches, including: the Consul General of the RP in Chicago, Mr. Jarosωaw ωasi񳫩, the vice-president of the Polish National Association, Mr. Paul C. Odrobina, the former president of the Association of the Sibir Prisoners in the USA, Mr. Henryk ωcigaωa and Mr. Henryk Zygmunt, the commandant of the 90th unit of the Polish Army Veterans Association in Chicago. The introductory speech was given by Dr. Janusz Wr󢥬 from the Public Education Office of the ω󤟠branch of the INR.
The exposition was paid a great attention of the Polish emigrantsω media. A daily newspaper ωDziennik Zwiωzkowyω published a comprehensive material on this topic. The exposition was discussed in several radio programs broadcasted by the biggest Polish radio stations WPNA 1490 and WNVR 1030. Dr. Wr󢥬 gave interviews to a local TV station Polvision and to TVP Polonia.
The exposition will be presented in the SWAP place at 6005 W. Irving Park Road in Chicago till the end of May 2006. Then it is planned to be transferred to the Polish emigrantsω centers on the East Coast of the USA.
