Ukraine’s first lady visits the Institute of National Remembrance

On September 7, 2009 the Institute of National Remembrance was visited by Katerina Yushchenko, Ukraine’s first lady
While exploring the archives of the Institute, in the Bad Arolsen (base of the victims of World War II) database stored in the IPN the First Lady has found information about her father - the victim of the German repression. Previous to that, Mrs. Yushchenko attended a meeting with Janusz Kurtyka, the President of the IPN, during which the existing cooperation between the Institute and the Ukrainian institutions has been discussed. The President has also presented the activities of all Institute divisions.
The Ukraine’s first lady was accompanied by Ihor Juchnowski, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, and Swiatosław Szeremet, the Secretary of the Ukrainian Interdepartmental Commission on War and Political Repression.
