On July 12, 2009 in Belarus a ceremony was held to commemorate the 65th anniversary of ‘The Sharp Gate’ operation. The event was organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Grodno and the Union of Poles in Belarus. Jacek Pawłowicz, the head of Exhibition and History Education Department in the Branch Public Education Office participated in the ceremony as a representative of the Institute of National Remembrance in Warsaw. The celebration began with a Holy Mass in the Holy Mother of Rosary Parish in Soły. The mass was held for the Home Army soldiers, who died for their country, and their families. On the way from Grodno to Soły, in Dyndyliszki flowers were laid and candles lit on the mass grave of the Home Army soldiers. Subsequently, the graves of Home Army soldiers in Iwaszkowce, Więcławienięty, Wojstom, Smorgonie and the 1920 soldiers quarters in Żodiszki were visited. In Smorgonie Jacek Pawłowicz gave a short speech. The celebration ended with a meeting with veterans during which Henryk Litwin, the Polish ambassador to Belarus gave several veterans nominations to the first officer rank.
