The President of the Republic of Poland to visit the IPN's exhibition “Between the Walls. Poland under totalitarian regimes 1939–1945”

- Unfortunately, there are many people who are attempting to falsify history, suggesting that, in fact, World War II began in 1941. No - the war began with the Nazi-Soviet invasion of Poland in September 1939 based on the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact - said the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda after seeing the IPN exhibition "Between the Walls. Poland under totalitarian regimes 1939–1945”.

On Friday, 23 August 2019 the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, visited the “Between the Walls. Poland under totalitarian regimes 1939–1945” exhibition prepared by the Institute of National Remembrance to mark the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. The outdoor exhibition is currently being shown on Józef Piłsudski Square in Warsaw. President Andrzej Duda was accompanied by the President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Dr Jarosław Szarek.

The exhibition is presented in two spatial configurations. In visual, artistic and substantive terms, it touches upon the subject of the history of two totalitarianisms: the German Reich and Soviet Russia. The underlying theme of the narrative is the outbreak of World War II, its tragic consequences and the fight of Poles for freedom against the two occupiers. Texts and photographs placed on the outer walls of the installation introduce the viewers to the dramatic reality of war. The exhibition was officially opened on 22 August 2019.
