The Polish Prizes of Sérgio Vieira de Mello awarded in Cracow

Deputy President of the Institute of National Remembrance and the Director of the IPN's Branch in Cracow took part in the ceremony at Villa Decius

On 25 October 2018, the ceremony of awarding the Polish Prizes of Sérgio Vieira de Mello was held in Cracow. Sergio Vieira de Mello was the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the years 2002-2003. The President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Dr. Jarosław Szarek, is a member of the Chapter that awards the prizes. During the ceremony, he was represented by Jan Baster, Deputy President of the Institute and Dr hab. Filip Musiał, Director of the IPN's Branch in Cracow.

These are the laureates of the 15th edition of the prize awarded for their work for peaceful coexistence and cooperation between societies, religions and cultures:

  • Basil Kerski, Director of the European Solidarity Center in Gdańsk,
  • Albanian Interreligious Community,
  • Hanaa Edwar from Iraq, Founder of the Al-Amal Association, working for the rehabilitation of victims of conflicts, defender of human rights.
