Press release regarding recalling Dr Grzegorz Kuprianowicz from the Board for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom at the IPN’s Lublin Branch Office

On 30 August 2018 Dr Jarosław Szarek, President of the Institute of National Remembrance, recalled Dr Grzegorz Kuprianowicz from the Board for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom at the IPN’s Lublin Branch Office. The recall was made on the request of  Marcin Krzysztofik, Director of the IPN Branch Office in Lublin and pursuant to  art. 53m sec. 4 of the Act of 18 December 1998 on the Institute of National Remembrance – Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation (Dz.U. Polish Journal of Laws of 2016 items 1575, later amended).

 

Beforehand, a request to remove Dr Kuprianowicz was submitted by Andrzej Mazurek, President of the Soldier Association of the 27th Volhynian Home Army Infantry Division.

Boards for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom operate on the basis of art 53m of the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance. Members of the Board form a consultative and advisory assembly within area subordinate to each IPN branch office. They initiate and coordinate projects related to commemorating historical events, sites, and heroes of the Polish Nation’s struggle and martyrdom; as well as sites of struggle and martyrdom of other nations.

Membership in the work of the Board for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom is honorary.
