The event was attended by the IPN President Karol Nawrocki who participated in a discussion panel entitled “Possibilities and Limits of Exploring the Recent Past. Sources and Research Conditions”. The IPN head talked about various topics including the different attitudes towards post world War II history between Western and Eastern Europe, the cooperation with institutions such as NEB, the de-communization of public space and the need to fight defamations and history distortions appearing in the media.

The Institute of National Remembrance strongly advocates for Poland’s interests in the international arena, addressing crucial topics such as reparations and combatting defamation. We view reparations as an issue derived, of course, from the past, but at the same time extremely important for building our future, said IPN President Karol Nawrocki during the panel discussion.

The 10 th anniversary of NEB’s establishment was also attended by, among others, the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly László Kövér, the President of the Hungarian Committee of National Remembrance Réka Földváryné Kiss, the President of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) Andrew Bremberg, the Chairman of the Platform for European Memory and Conscience (PEMC) Marek Mutor, and Ossolineum Director Łukasz Kamiński.

The Hungarian Committee of National Remembrance (Nemzeti Emlékezet Bizottságának) aims to create scientific and research programs for a thorough examination of the mechanisms and structures of power during the communist dictatorship. As part of the event, NEB organized a scientific conference held at the Hungarian Heritage House in Budapest. The patron of the event is László Kövér, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly.

The Committee's task is to collect and analyze data, to create reports on the structures of power and people in leadership positions in the party and the communist state apparatus. In addition to research activities, the Committee has an educational role, among others, publishing their findings on the Internet.

NEB on the basis of acquired information is also entitled to initiate criminal procedure in the General Prosecutor's Office, therefore it closely cooperates with the department of the Prosecutor's Office, which deals with the prosecution of the crimes of the past.

The Institute of National Remembrance has been cooperating with Hungarian institutions for many years. We have jointly organized numerous scientific conferences, exhibitions and events celebrating important anniversaries, and taking care of Hungarian and Polish memorial sites.

In November 2023, the Hungarian capital joined the list of IPN’s "History  Points.
